Sold-Out Opening Race of the 2026 Hudson Race Series powered by Nike Delivers Fast Racing in the Three Cities

The 2026 Hudson Race Series powered by Nike got off to a flying start with its opening race in the Three Cities, one of the most popular and eagerly anticipated events in the five-race series. Set on a fast, flat and scenic route through Cospicua, Senglea and Vittoriosa, the race once again proved why it is a firm favourite with local runners.

The event was sold out, with athletes lining up for either the 10km or 5km distances and delivering strong performances across both races.

10km Race

The 10km race produced an exciting contest at the front of the field, with Mark Herrera taking the win. Herrera was followed closely by Clayton Abela, who ran almost the entire race head-to-head with first female finisher Jemima Farley. Farley crossed the line in third place overall, finishing just one second behind Abela, underlining the intensity of the race at the sharp end.

Brandon Saliba completed the men’s podium in third place, rounding off a competitive top three.

In the women’s category, Jemima Farley’s convincing victory, showed her class with a strong and controlled run. She was followed by Ritianne Zammit in second and Analise Xuereb in third. While Farley enjoyed a set a comfortable gap,  the battle for the remaining podium places was tight, with just 14 seconds separating Zammit and Xuereb.

5km Race

The 5km race also delivered fast and closely contested racing. John Mintoff secured the win, marking his first victory in the Hudson Race Series. He was followed by Keith Falzon in second and Alessandro Vizzini in third, with only a few seconds separating the trio after the single-loop course.

In the women’s 5km race, Charyl Fava once again demonstrated her consistency and experience, taking a clear and comfortable win. A regular podium finisher and familiar name at the front of the field, Fava finished ahead of Brenda Cascun in second place and Chrystal Parnis in third.

Presenting the trophies to the overall and age-group winners, Race Director Charlie Demanuele thanked the Cospicua, Senglea and Vittoriosa Local Councils, Transport Malta, and the wider organising team, officials and volunteers whose support and commitment made the successful staging of the opening race of the 2026 Hudson Race Series possible.

The second race of the 2026 Hudson Race Series powered by Nike will take place on Sunday 12th April in Maqluba. The equally popular race is nearly sold out with few places left.
