Lorenzo Lepri and Charyl Fava take the win in the 5k Race.
Christian Micallef delivered a commanding performance in Sunday’s Hudson Race Series Maqluba Edition 10km race.
The Maqluba race, known for its steep incline just a few metres from the start, once again drew a sellout crowd, attracting a mix of seasoned racers and newcomers to the field.
Ideal weather conditions greeted the approximately 300 runners who took on either the two-lap 10km route or the single-lap 5km course.
In the 10km race, Micallef led from the front, finishing ahead of Mark Herrera and Jeremy Curmi, who placed second and third respectively.
In the women’s 10km race, favourite Josann Attard Pulis claimed victory, ahead of Josianne Cilia Mumford and Bernice Zammit. Cilia Mumford had to maintain a strong pace to fend off Zammit’s challenge, securing second place by just eight seconds.
The 5km men’s race welcomed some new faces and saw a tighter finish among the top three than the 10km. Lorenzo Lepri crossed the line first, six seconds ahead of Luke Vella, with Brandon Saliba taking third.
In the women’s 5km race, Charyl Fava continued her consistent series performance with another win. Sascha Genovese claimed her first podium finish in these events, coming in second—seven seconds ahead of race regular Nadia Mifsud.
Prizes and Trophies were presented to the overall and age group winners byRace Director Charlie Demanuele who went on to thank race sponsors Hudson Group for their ongoing support. He also thanked ProHealth Ltd, agents for La Roche Posay products, Transport Malta, Qrendi and Zurrieq Local Councils as well as race officials and marshalls.
The next race of the Hudson Race Series, powered by Nike will take place on Sunday 11th May in Dingli.
