Brandon Saliba, Rosalie Borg Cauchi take the honours in the 5k Race
The Hudson Race Series drew to a close with the Valletta Edition taking place on Sunday morning, marking another sold-out event in this challenging five-race Series. Known as one of the most demanding courses, the Valletta race features steep inclines combined with typical December weather conditions.
10km Race
Mark Herrera gave a strong performance from the start, securing first place in the 10k race. Leon Chetcuti and Clyde Sciberras followed closely, finishing in second and third, respectively. All three runners delivered determined efforts on a course renowned for its hilly terrain and often adverse weather conditions.
In the women’s 10k category, Josann Attard Pulis maintained a comfortable lead over her competitors. A close contest took place for second and third place, with Josianne Cilia Mumford having to stave off attempts from Fleur Grima Azzopardi, who took third place.
5km Race
The 5km race saw a tight competition among the top three finishers. Brandon Saliba clinched first place, narrowly beating Ryan Farrugia, who finished in second. Heathcliff Vella completed the podium in third place.
In the women’s category, Rosalie Borg Cauchi claimed the top spot after having to fend off a strong challenge from Charyl Fava, who finished a close second. Nadia Mifsud secured third place, rounding out the podium.
“The Hudson Race Series has maintained a remarkable trajectory since its inception in 2015 as a 10k series. As we approach the 10th anniversary in 2025, we eagerly anticipate celebrating this milestone with both familiar faces and newcomers to our community. We are profoundly grateful to the Hudson Group for believing in ourvision from day one and supporting us throughout,” remarked Charlie Demanuele, Race Director.
Demanuele went on to thank the Race officials, medical team, Floriana and Valletta Local Councils, Malta Public Transport and Transport Malta officials led by David Spiteri and his team.
Hudson Race Series League
The 2024 Hudson Race Series League was introduced this year to reward athletes for their consistency and performances across all races. The overall winners were Leon Chetcuti and Josann Attard Pulis in the 10k category, while Charyl Fava and Ryan Farrugia claimed the top spots in the 5k category.
The 2025 Hudson Race Series will return with another five-race lineup, starting with the Three Cities Edition on Sunday, 5th January.
